Why Nivea helps prevent stress
Work stress is a common problem at work. One in 7 Professionals experienced work stress in 2015 (TNO). An increase of 10 percent from 2014. Of the work-related absenteeism, 36 percent is caused by stress. Reason enough for employers to pay ample attention to it. It’s better for the (sustainable) employability of your employees and in addition you save on absenteeism costs.
Diederik describes his stress as follows: ‘what really bothered me was the constant feeling of being rushed, pain in my stomach and and that eternal grumbling when I was in my bed. If I am very honest, I knew from moment one that I had to do something about it.’

Science about stress
- Stress is not always wrong
Acute stress is often fine and can help. For example, in a threatening situation at work, it helps to get things done. For example, when you’re facing a deadline that you might just miss. How it works. Two hormones are produced that help you deal with such a situation.
Adrenaline ensures a quick reaction. Cortisol causes things to return to normal after a while. Your heart rate goes down and your breathing becomes calmer. (Source: UMC Utrecht brain center)
- Chronic stress in not fine
Where it goes wrong is when stress becomes chronic. This depletes your natural stress system. The consequences are downright nasty. You react less adequately, you are more likely to develop diabetes and high blood pressure. In addition, you are more susceptible to infections such as the flu.
- Stress changes your brain
Stress changes the shape of your brain cells. The cells that help you see rationally get smaller and the brain cells that deal with emotion actually get bigger. Therefore, rationalizing can be important to reduce stress. It is important to ask yourself where the stress is coming from and whether it is necessary.
Put a little nivea on it
Many hard workers who deal with stress have a talent. That talent is that they are ready for others. Sometimes a little too much and in doing so they forget their own importance. You are then a little too collegial. In the case of too much stress, that interest is simply your health.
Therefore, smear a little Nivea on it; Don’tFill In For Another.
3 tips for no more stress
- Go exercise.
Many have gone before you. 50% of the Dutch who exercise do so to reduce stress. It has also been scientifically proven that exercise helps against stress (ps walking is also exercise in my opinion, though a bit of running). - Recognize stress.
Say “no” to an assignment once in a while. Prioritizing what you do and don’t want to do also helps. You are in control that way. - Stay rational.
Das quite difficult. When stressed, emotions will quickly take over. Try not to fill in what others think of you and stay yourself in the here and now. Put some Nivea on it.
